(03) Knife To A Gun Fight

DESCRIPTION:
These long, drawn out gun battles you see in the movies are fictional, they're for just dramatic effect. The ones you see on the news are real enough, but for the most part you only see the ones where they had time enough to get a news crew out to the scene. Otherwise, unless someone happens to be rolling a camera before the shooting starts, you never get to see it. When that does happen, it generally is over in a few seconds. Statistics from reported gunfights bear that out, generally they are over in about 3 seconds: someone is out of ammo, someone has gotten away, someone is down, etc.. The important survival lesson this has is that in certain situations, you don't have time to think. You have to have pre-thought out your responses and programmed them into your muscle memory for them to be effective.
